Poems and Poetry

Complexion | A Poem by J. Ash Gamble

The waitress must feel
terrible, her face an open
wound of hostility.
It’s not that she isn’t
beautiful. It’s just, no matter
what you might say,
you can tell she would
not believe it.
She’s been through the
day one too many times
before now.
