Poems and Poetry

Day’s Notice | A Poem by JD DeHart

They told us twenty-one days
prior to the smash. Look out,
there’s a rock in the air.

We could have used more
notice, thank you, but just
so, at least it wasn’t one
day.

Conjuring images of kissing
long-lost relatives and eager
young people trying to soak
up life, even though the sky
proves empty, no crash,
no imminent cataclysm.
